My home in the sky

She needed a moment. A time out. A peace out. She needed to get herself out of her thoughts and get herself back with… So she excited the four walls, walked up a hill and looked around. All around her were trees that helped her breathe and then she remembered to look up. You see… for a long time she had forgotten how the sky was her escape, her home away from home. She had been looking down for a while and trying to close her eyes during prayer, during meditation but her focus had been off.  Shaky at best. So she found a perfect spot under an old tree and laid on the grass. According to yoga,  she’s doing the corps pose, but if you ask her she is getting back to basics, being with the ground. Her body slowly changed its breathing and her eyes, it was like the first time a baby seeing Mama. She couldn’t stop smiling and was just focused on her home in the sky. Her mind was at ease, cool and calm. She,  for a moment was untouchable.

This is my commitment.

I had to learn that my first commitment had to be to Allah. By committing to Him I was committing to myself at the same time. The commitment taught me to see this world through my heart and not my eyes. He is the one I cling onto when I find myself lost in temporary moments. By committing to Allah I found grace during my times of tribulations and became grateful for the blessings as well. By committing to Allah my chest became bigger and my breathing got easier. Because to commit to a soul first means to live with the constant fear of them leaving you through choice or through death and that will consume your way of living. To be attached that deeply that vigorously to a temporary being will exhaust your own soul.  I want to live and to live means I have to commit to Allah first.

my first commitment is to Allah and that is an act of self love in itself

You better love yourself.

Look at your life and think about if you are truly taking care of your own heart, thoughts, needs and wants. Do you have a hard time catching your own breath because you are running towards or away from something? Stop, put all the temporary stuff, the demands from the other and their threat of disappointment in the air and let the wind blow it all away. Keep yourself and breathe. Find that time, that space, that place where you are giving love to yourself without thinking of anything else in that moment but just me, myself and I. Yes, you have to hustle in this world hustle but be careful that this world is not taking too much away from you and not giving enough back.

Self love does not come
with a list of demands or deal breakers,
it is about feeding your soul with love
without caring about their big eyes
